The Jackson-Madison County Library Board of Trustees and Library Director Dinah Harris issue the following statement in response to the COVID-19 outbreak:

Jackson-Madison County Library to Close March 18 - until further notice.
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Library will close both its locations beginning Wed., March 18 and remain closed to the public until further notice to limit potential community spread of COVID-19.
During the closure, library patrons should keep items currently checked out until JMCL reopens. All due dates have been extended until May 1st and JMCL is waiving all late fees accrued between March 1 and May 1st. Library staff will continue to work while buildings are closed.
“Public libraries have always been about serving the needs of the entire community, but as a community gathering place, we have made this difficult decision in an effort to protect our patrons,” said Dinah Harris, library director. “We will continue to monitor the situation in coordination with the Jackson-Madison County Health Department and will make every effort to resume services as soon as it is safe to do so.”
Patrons are encouraged to use JMCL’s online resources and services. The library has set up a special page on its website at http://jmclibrary.org/coronavirus.php for information regarding the library, ways you can still use library resources from your home, as well as links to local, state, and federal agencies. The library will also update its social media channels with links to online resources.
